Hibs vs Hearts: Edinburgh Derby Preview

The hotly contested Edinburgh derby will take place this weekend with both Hearts and Hibernian doing well in the Championship, it looks to be another classic encounter.

Both sides put in convincing displays this weekend with Hearts continuing their unbeaten run at the top of the Championship with a 5-1 win over Dumbarton.

Whilst Hibs got back to winning ways beating Livingston 4-0 to sit fourth in the table.

However Hibs have some serious injury concerns ahead of the derby with Jordan Forster ruled out for six weeks with a broken foot and his team-mate Liam Fontaine also out with a thigh injury.

Forster shared a photo of his injury with fans said on Instagram: “Unfortunately I fractured my foot on Thursday morning! Rest and recovery….. Then a lot of hard work to come back even stronger.”

Both teams found themselves relegated at the end of last season to the Scottish Championship; there were some concerns for the quality of football the capital sides would face. However they were joined in the Championship by a promoted Rangers and a strong Queen of the South side which has led to the Championship stealing a lot of the limelight from the top-sides in the Premiership.

With Hearts having beaten Hibs at the start of the season, Hibs will be out to even the score and push on in the league, whilst Hearts will be looking to cement their place at the top of the table so it promises to be a tough battle.

Kick-off at Easter Road is at 12.45pm on Sunday.
