Previously History Festival is on until November 30 around Edinburgh venues. Scotland’s History Festival exists to spotlight and showcase Scotland’s History. Their aim is to find ways of encouraging people to understand and care about their place and history, through partnerships with Scotland’s heritage, archive, museum and history sectors.

At Indian Encounters you can explore the changing relationships between Great Britain and India during the 18th and 19th centuries. It will be be at the National Museum of Scotland until March 1 2015.

Beauty by Design

Beauty by Design: Fashioning the Renaissance is an innovative exhibition linking the renaissance art collections of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Scottish National Gallery to contemporary fashion design, practice and display. This cultural event will be available to see until May 3.



The all-new, all-star tour of the Magic of Motown is celebrating 50 years of UK No1 hit singles at the Edinburgh Playhouse this month, featuring music of the Four Tops, Supremes, Jackson 5 and many more smash hits.

Wicked has been casting its magical spell over audiences across the world for a decade, and it is now the 10th longest running show in the West End. Running until January 10 at Edinburgh Playhouse, it’s not one to miss.

English synthpop duo Erasure, consisting of singer-songwriter Andy Bell, and songwriter and keyboardist Vince Clarke will be at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange for one night only,

Scots Fiddle Festival is held in The Queen’s Hall and Summer Hall until November 23, where you can attend concerts, recitals, workshops, talks and ceilidhs.


Edinburgh’s Christmas starts off with a bang on November 21, and lasts right through until January 4. Their website has information on all the events.

Edinburgh’s Christmas Lights will be switched on at the Light Night ceremony on George Street, kicking off at 1.30pm!

Electric Six will be playing at the Liquid Rooms for one night only. This six-piece band from Michigan has been described as a brand of rock music infused with elements of garage, disco, punk, new wave and metal.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

The BP Portrait Award 2014 showcases the very best in contemporary portrait painting from around the world. This exhibit will be at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery until April 12.

The King’s Theatre annual pantomime is back again, this time with Aladdin. For an unmissable adventure, it will be playing until January 18.

St Andrew’s Day is our official national day, named after St Andrew the patron saint of Scotland. St Andrew Square will fittingly become the venue for a programme of fun and family friendly events to celebrate all things Scottish!



Katherine Ryan, the Canadian comedian, writer and actress, will appear at The Stand Comedy Club on November 30. The comedian has been on British panel shows such as Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 Cats and many more.
