Boyata wary of Van Persie threat

Celtic host Fenerbahce tomorrow in a crucial Europa League Group Stage clash.

Having drawn in their opening game against Ajax in Amsterdam, Ronny Deila’s side are looking to secure their first win in this season’s competition.

Celtic face a formidable threat in Robin Van Persie, who defender Dedryck Boyata praised yesterday as still being one of the world’s top strikers.

“We all know Van Persie. Wherever you go, if you say his name to people, they know he is a real quality player. He can finish really easily, and if we leave him a bit of space in front of goal he will kill us.”

Celtic are looking to return to winning ways after Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Hearts and any points the Glasgow side can pick up in Thursday’s fixture will benefit their chances of qualifying from a particularly difficult group, also containing Ajax and Molde.

For Fenerbahce the Celtic fixture will also represent an excellent opportunity to pick up their first points of the campaign, having lost their opening fixture 3-1 at home to Molde.

Having just resumed training after an injury Ronny Deila has revealed Stuart Armstrong is expected to miss the game. Charlie Mulgrew also has a knock while Emilio Izaguirre, who picked up a red card in Amsterdam, is suspended for the tie.
