Rail commuters are experiencing severe delays this morning as police confirm thieves target signal cables near Falkirk.

Scotrail have announced that the problem is being fixed but that customers could face disruptions until 1pm this afternoon.

Those commuting between Scotland’s capital and Glasgow are most effected and should expect delays from 45 minutes up to 1 hour 40.

Currently, trains are unable to call at the stations Croy, Lenzie or Falkirk High.

ScotRail secured replacement buses between Falkirk High and Falkirk Grahamston, and confirmed it had agreed a ticket acceptance deal with First Glasgow for buses in both directions between Cumbernauld, Lenzie, Bishopbriggs and Glasgow.

The company urges customers to check their website before travelling.
