Witness appeal: Restalrig Gardens robbery

Police are appealing for any information on a man who robbed a 36-year-old woman on Tuesday night.

The victim was walking alone towards her car in Restalirig Gardens around 9pm when the male approached her, threatened her, and stole her mobile phone.

The man escaped on foot leaving the 36-year-old shaken up but unharmed.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up. He spoke with an Edinburgh accent and wore a dark coloured scarf partially covering his face and dark coloured trousers, possibly jeans.

Detective Constable John McShane, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the incident to come forward.

“In particular, we want to speak with anyone who spoke with the female immediately after the attack.

“We also appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the culprit or who saw any unusual behaviour in the area around the time of this offence to contact the police immediately.”

Those with information are asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
