Amazon Prime members living in the central belt of Scotland will benefit from the retail giant’s same-day delivery service. This development comes after the success of initial trials in London and parts of Berkshire and Hertfordshire at the beginning of November.

Amazon said the service will be expanded to other parts of the UK next year.

Amazon Prime customers pay an annual fee of £79 for their membership, and with the new service, orders placed before 12 noon will be delivered between 6pm and 10pm the same day, seven days a week.

There is no minimum order for the service, which spans one million items including DVDs, books, toys and televisions.

Christopher North, managing director of Amazon.co.uk, said:

“Prime members are telling us that they love the convenience of free same-day delivery so we are quickly introducing it to many new areas of the UK. And we continue to invest in our delivery network to expand our fast delivery options to even more Prime members

“Prime Same Day adds to the range of benefits available to Prime members, like unlimited streaming of movies and music, unlimited photo storage and more.”

This addition to Amazon’s services will benefit Prime members living in Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Dudley, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

For those Prime members living in selected parts of London and Birmingham can also choose delivery within one hour of ordering for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two-hour delivery slots between 8am and midnight the same day.

As Christmas approaches, Amazon’s same day delivery is sure to benefit many consumers gearing up for the festive season.
