Police appeal following Sighthill assault and attempted robbery

Police Scotland has announced an appeal today for information following an assault and attempted robbery in Sighthill.  Edinburgh police are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

The attack took place on Monday on Calder Road Gardens towards the Stenhouse area where a 26 year old male was approached by two men. One of the men attempted to steal a bag that he was carrying. Police say that the victim managed to run off through the underpass following a struggle.

They are now searching for information regarding the two attackers who are described as white, mid to late teens and both wearing dark hooded tops and bottoms.

DC Gavin Howat of Police Scotland said:

“The complainer managed to escape any injury but we are very keen to trace the men responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw these men either before or after the attack to contact police immediately on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
