Ewan McGregor to premiere directorial debut at Filmhouse

Ewan McGregor is set to attend a gala screening of his latest film ‘American Pastoral’ in the Edinburgh next week. The film, which will be presented by the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) at the capital’s Filmhouse on Lothian Road, will be preceded by a red carpet premiere and followed by a Q&A with the actor at an evening screening on Wednesday 2nd November.

It’s the first time McGregor will visit in the city since shooting the sequel to Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting earlier this year. His last official appearance at EIFF was in 2015 when he joined by Edith Bowman for an ‘In Person’ event.

American Pastoral is the actor’s directorial debut. The film, which is the first screen adaptation of Philip Roth’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, looks at the idyllic life of a 1960’s couple and how it’s turned upside down by the dangerous actions of their teenage daughter.

Free tickets will be released by the Filmhouse box office at 11am on Wednesday 26th October with a limit of four per person. American Pastoral will be released nationwide by Entertainment Film Distributors on November 11th
