What to expect in the Spring budget?

Chancellor Phillip Hammond is to announce the Spring budget at number 10 later this afternoon. The new budget will draw a picture of what is waiting for Britain gearing towards Brexit.

In a speech this morning, Mr Hammond assured that Britain’s economy has become resilient after it had been shaken by the EU referendum last year, with the pound hitting an all time low.

The Labour party demands the Chancellor to end the failed economic policies of Tory austerity.

As the budget coincides with International Women’s Day, the Chancellor is expected to announce a £5m fund dedicated to female suffrage for next year. 2018 will be the anniversary of Representation of the People Act, when eight million women were given a right to vote, for the very first time.

The new budget plan is also expected to include £320m to fund grammar schools along with funding for electric vehicles, robots and artificial intelligence.
