(Update) Man arrested after crossbow Siege in South Lanarkshire

Smoke and flames were seen engulfing the surrounded home.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested after armed police responded to reports of a man inside a home in Blantyre was armed with a crossbow.

Flames were seen bursting from the roof of the property on Morris Crescent, Blantyre, moments before the arrest was made.

A woman was also inside the house, but it is believed she wasn’t being held against her will.

Firearms officers and negotiators arrived at the scene shortly after 11am this morning.

Police Scotland released an official statement saying that Scotland said the 36-year-old man had been arrested and was detained in police custody in connection with the incident.

The force had earlier deployed firearms officers, along with negotiators and uniformed officers to the scene.
