Two charged for the murder of Edinburgh man

Two men have been charged for the murder of 44-year-old Mark Squires in Edinburgh on October 22.

Squires sustained numerous injuries during an incident that took place in an alley beside Edinburgh’s Longstone Inn.

Emergency services arrived at the scene during the early hours of Sunday morning where Squires was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, but tragically died a short time later.

Police announced yesterday that a murder investigation had been launched and, following an extensive series of enquiries, warrants for the arrest of two men were released.

The men, aged 21 and 23, are now in custody and are scheduled to appear in front of Edinburgh’s Sheriff Court on Wednesday October 25th.

A 3rd man has been detained by police in connection to the incident.

Police are still appealing for those with any further information to contact the Major Investigation Team via 101 and quote incident number 486 of the 22nd. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
