Edinburgh Bridal Fashion Show

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) will be hosting a Bridal Fashion Show tomorrow from 7-9pm which supports the British Red Cross charity.

RCPE aims to raise money as many funds as possible for the charity and has offered their prestigious venue for this unique fundraising fashion show.

“We’re really pleased to be hosting such a special event to support the Red Cross, I’ve had a sneak preview of the dresses and they are amazing. Our beautiful venue is just the right place to have this fashion show.” said Alex Boyack, Marketing Manager of RCPE.

Boyack was struck by the idea of hosting a fashion show after visiting the Stockbridge charity shop and seeing the wide selection of bridal gowns.

“I was in the Red Cross changing rooms in Stockbridge and came out to be faced by racks of beautiful wedding dresses and thought I’m sure there’s some way we could help promote these – as where I work we already host over 30 weddings a year in our stunning Great Hall.”

Eventgoers will have the opportunity to explore, try on and of course, purchase the stunning wedding dresses that have been donated to the British Red Cross Bridal Boutique in Stockbridge which is the only shop in Scotland of its kind; supplying wedding dresses at a fraction of their original prices.

Over 40 designer wedding dresses  have been donated from brides as well as local bridal businesses and will be showcased during the event.

“It’s far more common now for brides not to want to spend a fortune on something they will wear for just a few hours. They feel proud of helping the Red Cross and spending the money with us instead.”

Said Rosa Rosado, Manager of the British Red Cross charity shop in Stockbridge.

While there will be a variety of dresses to buy, only 3 bridal gowns will be auctioned off. The star of the evening will be a £14,000 cream couture ball gown designed by Phillipa Lepley. Lepley has created an array of luxury gowns for many celebrities including Model, Jacqui Ainsly and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell.

In addition to an auction taking place, there will be a grand raffle draw with great prizes donated from local businesses.

Lisa Scott, Area Retail Manager for British Red Cross, hopes that this event will help the charity’s operations in the future.

“The bridal fashion show will help the British Red Cross help millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.”

The fashion show will be hosted by local celebrity couple, Shauna MacDonald and Cal MacAnich. Tickets are priced at £10 which includes a glass of fizz and canapes.

All proceeds go to the British Red Cross charity.

More information about tickets can be found here. Tickets can also be purchased from Red Cross charity shops across Morningside and Stockbridge in Edinburgh.
