The Scottish cup 4th round is upon us and struggling League 2 side, Elgin City will be looking to cause a huge upset this Saturday when they face Premiership outfit, Hibernian at Easter Road.

Gavin Price’s side have only won one in their last five games in League 2 and has seen themselves slide out of the promotion places within the last month. Scoring goals seems to be the problem for the fourth tier side and with the team only finding the net once in their last three games, Saturday will prove to be a very tough fixture in front of goal.

Neil Lennon’s side approach the game off the back of a bitter defeat to city rivals, Hearts just over two weeks ago and are currently without a win in their last 4 games.

Team morale has been brought into question given their poor start to the season and their position in the bottom half of the table after finishing fourth last season. They will be looking to shake off any doubters with a dominant win this weekend in front of a less than pleased home crowd at Easter Road.

The loss of Efe Ambrose was another defensive loss for the side in green but the recruitment of attacking prodigy, Ryan Gauld could help with the lack of goals.

Elgin are currently positioned 31 places below Hibernian. However, with both teams recently suffering a run of poor form, an upset could well be on the cards. A defeat for Hibernian would see plenty of fingers pointing towards Neil Lennon and his ability to succeed with the team for the rest of the season.

Hibs are expected to field a slightly weaker side than usual given their crucial fixture against Motherwell midweek, but Lennon is not expected to take any chances with the squad with most bookmakers offering 14/1 odds for an Elgin win.

The match will be covered live on BBC Radio Scotland at 3pm on Saturday the 19th of January.
